Who are you as an artist? What is your story?
I write Anthems for Unsung Heroes. I don’t write radio pop songs, so much, as theme songs. When I find an unsung hero, whether in real life or in books, I write an anthem for them. In the past, I’ve written anthems for Marching Band kids, Families who deal with someone struggling with Alzheimer’s, women dealing with body issues, Soldiers going to war, and others.
2. Who are some of your favorite artists and music influences?
Coldplay, U2, Sting, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, John Williams and Hans Zimmer, for starters.
3.What is makes your music worth it? To the world? To your fans?
I hope to inspire the world and my fans with my songs. I hope to reconnect them with lost emotions and memories. I hope to make them stop for a moment and recognize beauty in what they have.
4. What is the future of music and the industry?
Spotify, VR concerts, Livestreaming and other new technology. It’s always important to stay on top of technological advancements to find the new niche.
5. What surprises you the most about the music industry?
How record labels have still remained in the game. I thought they would be ancient history by now. They are still holding on.
6. What’s your Poison?
I don’t drink. I don’t smoke or do any drugs. I’m a health freak. I prefer cold-pressed juice, herbal teas with raw, local honey, and lime shots (Lime, Salt and Water).
7. How is your Art “your religion”?
It’s definitely a foundation for me, and my emotional catharsis. I would be bottled up with all the wrong emotions if it weren’t for music and the ability to express what I feel. I feel sorry for those who don’t have a way to release and express their emotions.
8. What are you truly creating with your music that changes the world, changes society?
I’m creating anthems that recognize the unsung heroes of the world. I’m constantly looking for people who deserve recognition, but aren’t getting any. I write an anthem and create videos to spread the respect and admiration of those heroes so the rest of the world can also admire and respect them.
9. What is the spiritual message of your music?
To recognize true sacrifice and understand how difficult everyone’s lives are. We’re so caught up in thinking that our lot in life is harder than others. We need to realize how difficult others have it, and try to lift them up. It’s important to take the time to value the sacrifices of others.
10. Have you been “lucky” or “gifted” in the music industry so far? Tell us more:
I’ve been able to make a decent living on my music for the last 10 years. In that, I am blessed. I haven’t received the attention I would like from the masses, but I still have managed to get flown around the world to perform at a wide variety of events. I get paid to perform live, as well as compose music. I’m lucky that I get to wake up whenever I choose, work for myself, and make a decent living doing what I love. I haven’t had a “real job” since I was a teenager working in a shipping center.
11. What do you really think it takes to make it in the music industry? Tell us 3 keys.
Hard work, sacrifice and business creativity.
12. What is your main inspirational philosophy in life? Favorite quote?
There is power within us. Our minds are more powerful than we can comprehend. We can be anyone, do anything and change whatever we want about ourselves. We have the ability to do anything and the potential to reach great heights.
13. What do you regret the most in your music and would have done differently?
Budgeting and spending. I’ve made a lot of money that I’ve wasted on bad business decisions. I wish I would have saved 10% of everything I ever made and never touched it. I wish I never had to deal with debts in the past and could live on less to keep out of debt. I’m not in debt anymore, but it took a long time to get out of it.
14. Where do you see your career going in five years? 10 years? Next year?
In 5 years, I’ll be doing music for big production movies and musicals. In ten years, I hope to have an Oscar Nomination under my belt. In one year, I’ll have a new album out and a number of new song placements and hit singles.
15. Legacy: At the end of the day, how do you want your fans to remember you and your music?
I want to be known as someone who always made the world a better place. I want everyone who ever crossed my path to be better for it, and I hope they remember that above all else. It’s my goal to lift those around me, even if it means making them better than me.
